What inspired the creation of Salt Spring Island Cheese?
My dad, David Wood, started Salt Spring Island Cheese because he wanted a slower pace after running one of Toronto’s most iconic food shops – and he wanted us kids grow up in the country.

We make everything right here on Salt Spring Island, using BC milk and local ingredients whenever possible. Our goal is to make the very best, and that starts with the freshest, highest-quality ingredients.

What’s one thing people may not know about how it’s made?
We get a lot of tourists visiting our plant, and with windows into every room, customers can see exactly how we make our products. Transparency is at the heart of what we do.
